As head instructor and owner, Mrs. Lisa Maka is also a 6th Dan Black Belt and one of the most respected and experienced instructors in the region. She began her Taekwondo journey in 1980 in Hoven, South Dakota, training under Master Van Balen, and later went on to teach and own a school alongside Mr. Maka for many years.
A decorated competitor, Master Lisa Maka placed 3rd in Sparring at the 1990 Nationals, competing in a division of 36 women—a remarkable achievement. She later competed at the Olympic Festival and returned to Nationals in 1992, where she earned 2nd place in Forms (Poomsae).
Passionate about Poomsae instruction, Master Lisa Maka is also an expert organizer and leader behind the scenes. She has organized over 80 tournaments and has personally trained other instructors and schools on how to successfully host their own events.
Known for her patience, genuine care, and ability to build strong relationships, Mrs. Lisa Maka continues to shape students and instructors alike through her calm presence, wisdom, and deep love for Taekwondo.
